Ski & Snowboard Wedding at Sunshine Village

On a snowy morning in the heart of the Rockies Rory was feeling a little chilly as she arrived at Sunshine Village for a day of fun on the hill. As Rory’s gondola took her on a majestic ride though the mountains her mind was at home in California wishing that her family could be here to see what beauty surrounded her. As she departed the gondola at the first stop, Goats Eye Mountain eager to get on the hill she realized that she was the first one in line before the lift opened for the morning. With the sun rising she thought that this would be a great opportunity to take a photo to send back home. As the second group of people took their place in line she walked up to Kevin and asked if he could take a photo of her for her family back home. He took the photo and they continued to talk. Rory and Kevin spent the entire day skiing and snowboarding together on the hill... and the rest is history!

Freezing temperatures in the Rockies made choosing to go visit Rory’s family in California for Easter an easy decision to make! As they arrived at LAX Rory’s family was there to greet them. Kevin had already spoken with the Father of the soon to be Bride and they had teamed up to make Kevin’s big question the most incredible proposal ever! After visiting with the family the happy couple finally had the opportunity for some alone time in the sun. Rory’s father prepped their Silverton Yacht and the couple began the sail into the sunset. After a nice dip in the ocean and a private candlelit dinner Rory and Kevin snuggled up under the stars on the bow of the yacht. With lanterns surrounding them, Kevin pulled out a rose that seemed to come from nowhere. In the center of the rose balanced delicately was a stunning ring and with a burst of excitement Rory yelled “Yes!” before Kevin could ask the question. In the midst of the excitement the delicate ring had nearly been lost to the ocean, but Kevin’s catlike reflexes saved the day and the ring was put securely on Rory’s finger where it would stay forever!

Madly in love the couple was eager to tie the knot, however with Kevin family from Australia and Rory’s from California planning a wedding with everyone in attendance would take at least a year. One day at the hill while Rory was Skiing she noticed a “Powder Brides” logo and got curious and went online when she returned home that evening. Kevin though the house was on fire when Rory came bounding out of the computer room but was happy to hear the news she had! “Why don’t we get married on the hill!” she said. After digesting the unexpected burst of excitement Kevin said “Perfect!”

On another snowy day at Sunshine Rory and Kevin arrived with Angela from Powder Brides. Delivering a stunning bouquet and their lift tickets Angela gathered all the vendors and off they went to say their vows on top of the world. As the couple hit their first run on Standish Rory was thrilled that she really was a Powder Bride, with 10 cm of fresh snow in the last 24 hours this day couldn’t get any better!!! After choosing the perfect location to say their “I do’s” Rory & Kevin were pronounced Husband and Wife! They flew down the hill with all the wedding professional following them and celebrating the rest of the day with powder runs on Angel, Goats Eye and TeePee .

Now living together in Banff, their ski wedding is certainly a Powder Day that won’t soon be forgotten!!
